About Bjørn

I grew up in Tromsø, which means I grew up in the dark. Four months of polar night every year teaches you things about light, warmth, and preparation that you can't learn anywhere else.

For over twenty years I have guided expeditions in Nord-Norge and Svalbard, and volunteered with Arctic search and rescue. I know what goes wrong when people underestimate the scale, the cold, and the darkness. At NorgeTravel, I write about the Arctic so that doesn't happen to you.

I will tell you what the Northern Lights actually look like on a cloudy February night, and why you need to book the following night too. I will also tell you which stretch of the E6 is the most dangerous in winter, and why Svalbard without a licensed guide in polar bear territory is not an adventure. It is a liability.

The Arctic rewards the prepared. I will help you become that.
